Windowsill in the Woods @ Horne Road

Hipsters wannabe out there, is Ann Siang and Haji Lane too mainstream for you?

Besides the many hardware shops located in the vicinity of Lavender/Kallang area, cafes seems to be booming in this least expected region and it has already transformed into a ghetto for hipsters.

Windowsill in the Woods is located opposite Jalan Besar Stadium.

The cafe specializes in pies.

The pies are so appealing. It's a pity that we can't devour 8 pies by ourselves.

My friend settled with 'S'mores' while I ordered 'Coconut Lemon Vodka' as the word 'vodka' is just too appealing to me.

'S'mores'  pie is filled with gooey milk chocolate pudding and sticky dark chocolate fudge, topped with fluffly toasted marshmallows and home-made graham crackers while 'Coconut Lemon Vodka' pie is filled with zesty lime curd, intoxicating cubes of vodka jelly and topped with a swirl of coconut cream.

Judging from the two, I actually preferred 'Coconut Lemon Vodka' pie. The tartness of the lemon flavour has a perfect combination of the intoxicating taste of vodka and sweet and creamy aroma of coconut.

It is a must for me to order coffee or tea while dining in a cafe. The iced latte is decent and compliments well with the pies.

We wanted to try their savory dishes. Fortnight, located at the back of Windowsill in the Woods change their savory menu fortnightly, which explains the name.

My friend wanted to try their pasta, so she ordered "♥ & Octopus Pasta"...

And guess what... the "♥" actually means chicken heart!

I was surprised that the 'Chicken Heart and Octopus Pasta"  was actually very good (including the chicken heart). I thought it tasted like mini sausages.

Don't miss the cute mascot of Windowsill in the Woods - Mister Picklechips.

Simply love the simple yet cheerful and fairy-tale theme of the cafe. Will definitely visit this cafe again.
